Go Forth and Bear Testimony (Come Follow Me Lesson for Kids: June 3-9)

We naturally seek to share moments of joy and discovery with those we love. Whether it's the excitement of good news, the spark of a new idea, or the delight of a delicious recipe, our hearts overflow with a desire to include others in our happiness.

When our hearts are touched by the gospel of Jesus Christ, it also becomes our natural inclination to extend that same joy to those around us.

In this Come Follow Me lesson for kids, children will learn not just the what, but the why behind the Lord's commandment for us to spread the gospel message of love and hope.

➤ P R E P A R A T I O N

You will need blank sheets of paper for everyone, and a small set of crayons with only ONE each of the following colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.

➤ I N T R O D U C T I O N

Pass out one sheet of paper to each child, and divide the crayons equally among everyone who is present. Invite everyone to draw a colorful rainbow! They won’t be able to do this with just one color. Wait for a minute to see if they start to share their crayons with one another. If they don’t think of sharing, you can suggest that share the crayons with one another so that everyone can draw a complete rainbow.

After you complete the activity, discuss the following questions:

1) Did anyone have all the colors? (No, no one had all of the colors.)

2) What did you have to do to draw a rainbow? (They needed to freely share their crayons with one

another.)

Explain: Heavenly Father wants us to share with others, and one of the greatest things we can share is our testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! When we have a testimony of Jesus Christ, He has asked us to share it with others, just like you shared your crayons!

🎥 V I D E O : "Missionary Mouse | A Story About Sharing the Gospel with Others"

Say: “Now we are going to watch a video about a mouse who wants to share something with the other animals in his neighborhood. When you are watching, see if you can tell why he wanted to share!”

Discuss the following questions after watching the video:

1) What did the mouse want to share with the other animals? (Cheese!)

2) The mouse really wanted to share with all the other animals, didn’t he? (Yes!)

3) Why do you think he felt this way? Why did he want to show the other animals? (Discuss.)

4) Did all of the animals like the cheese? (No.)

5) How did the mouse feel when they didn’t all like the cheese? (Sad.)

6) If we bear testimony about Jesus Christ to everyone, will everyone accept Him? (No, some people will not want to hear about Jesus Christ. But if we are motivated by our love for others, they will feel our love for them.)

7) Is it okay if we are sad about that? (Yes, it's okay to feel sad about that.)

8) How did the mouse feel when someone loved the cheese he was sharing? (He was very happy!)

9) How do you think we will feel if we find someone who loves Jesus Christ? (Everyone will feel great joy!)

➤ S C R I P T U R E

Read the following verses together and discuss the questions that follow.

1) What problems were Alma's people having? (They began to be lifted up in their pride, they set their hearts on the riches of the world, and they were mean towards one another and to those who didn't believe in God.)

1) What did Alma do? (He appointed someone else to be in charge of the laws of the land.)

1) Why did Alma do this? (Alma wanted to use his time to go among the people to teach them the

word of God.)

1) Who is speaking in this verse? (Jesus is speaking to His disciples.)

2) What did Jesus tell His disciples to do? (To share the gospel with everyone!)

3) What are some different ways we can share the gospel with others? (Discuss ideas.)
